SOUTHWEST AIRLINES FLYING WITH BABIES

If a passenger is travelling with an infant or small child, he/she should be aware of the fact that proper use of a Child Restraint System (CRS) focuses on child safety on aircraft. Southwest airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) advise that small children and infant who weigh 40 pounds or less should be secured in a proper CRS while travelling.

BOARDING PASS POLICY WHILE TRAVELLING WITH BABIES

If a passenger chooses to purchase an extra seat for the baby, you require a boarding pass for an infant. If you have purchased an infant fare then you may use online check-in option if your baby has been age verified. If a baby is not age verified, you will not be able to use online check-in.

If a passenger chooses to travel with an infant on his/her lap, then no boarding pass is required. However, you require a boarding verification document (BVD) for the baby. BVD is available at the Southwest Airlines Ticket Counter on the day of flight departure. Actual use of the Child Restraint System increases a child’s safety on the aircraft. Once onboard the aircraft, the child should be secured on the window seat or in the middle seat.
